BE YOUR BEST BLOG : 3 things you forget to remember

'Don't blog for the sake of blogging.' #wisewordsfromthewndrlst

Sometimes you simply get stuck in a creative rut, sometimes motivation is cruelly and unexpectedly snatched from you seemingly for no apparent reason, and often you'll spend too much time comparing and not enough time evaluating. Which leaves you thinking:

WHATS THE POINT?

Stop, right, there.

SO - because no one likes a 'negative Nancy', or a 'down-in-the-dumps Debra', I've devised 3 very simple tips to help save you from that sinking sandpit of creative dissatisfaction;

1)

I would say, the majority of creative negativity stems from an irrational state of over analysation;

'My template doesn't look as nice as theirs.'

'I'm never going to get as many followers as they have.'

'Why don't my pictures look that nice?'

The first step is recognising these kinds of thoughts, and demolishing them from the offset. How about you just - give yourself a chance. Instead, step back from the computer and think;

 'My blog is a reflection of me. I'm expressing what is in my own brain - so being so comparative is only going to be detrimental to my productivity, self belief, and the quality of my content.

Over-thinking every minor detail takes more brain power that it does to actually create a post your content with, so save the mind space and take a breather, don't wallow, remember why your doing what your doing and simply alter things as you go along.

  Don't rush, this deserves consideration.

2)

You're not excited. :(

The flame of love is dwindling; 'I'm sorry, I don't think I can do this anymore. Its not your fault, its mine.'

THINK: What can I do to reignite the fire?

Have you been scheduling too much? - Planning is an amazing thing, it makes you feel complete and accomplished, but is a routine resulting in the theft of your impassioned creative instinct?

Have you been neglecting your inspiration stimulation? - Get out, do something different. Energize your enthusiasm. You don't have to go travelling around Australia, go to the worlds most expensive restaurant, or blow a tonne of cash on a shopping trip to write a good blog post. #FACT

Have you lost track of your intent? - Remember why you started your blog; you don't have to have a convoluted, deep rooted reason, so don't search for a deepened meaning that might not be there. Its simple; If you want to write - do it, if you want to communicate - do it, if you to express - do it.

Jump around and enliven your enthusiasm.

3)

This.

Authenticity is imperative. There's a difference between being original and being authentic which we need to remind ourselves of. Its understandably hard to be original nowadays, but being authentic is achievable.

Everyone has an individual authenticity.

Be true to you and not to what everyone else is doing.

Just do you. And yes, 'you' and your content may be similar to someone else and their content, but its not identical. Recognise that no-one can write from your gut the way you do - so take that, and type.

I have really enjoyed writing this post, and I hope it helps some of you out!

Let me know your thoughts!

  1. Agree with all your words, especially about authenticity. I also think that as easily you can find yourself through blogging, there is a chance you might loose "you" whilst trying to be like everyone else or over scheduling. Blogging should be fun :) x
